How do I set up and manage Paystack?

Paystack is Octiv's ad-hoc card-payment gateway for South Africa — it handles once-off card payments for drop-ins, top-ups, limited packages, and invoices. For a general overview, see What is Paystack? Settlements are paid out to your bank 2 working days after a successful payment and appear under Accounts >> Settlements.

1. Activate Paystack

  1. Go to Settings >> Payment Gateways and click Enable below Paystack.
  2. Enter the bank account for Paystack payouts and the notification email, then Submit and follow the on-screen Paystack steps. (Invalid account details are rejected.)
  3. Tick "Use Paystack for limited package purchases on sign-up and top-ups?" and set the gateway status to Active.

2. Switch from another ad-hoc gateway
Only one ad-hoc gateway can be active at a time, so disable the other first:

  1. Settings >> Payment Gateways >> View Active Details (below the current gateway, e.g. Netcash PayNow).
  2. Untick "Use PayNow for limited package purchases on sign-up and top-ups?", set its gateway status to Deactivated, and Submit.

3. Request a payment via Paystack
Bill a member, lead, or non-member:

  1. Create the invoice if needed (Accounts >> Invoices, or via POS).
  2. Find the invoice, click Actions >> Request/Process payment.
  3. Tick "Would you like to process this payment immediately" to open the Paystack window and take payment on the spot — or leave it unticked and choose Paystack to email the member a payment link to pay later.

4. Member self-purchase (top-ups & packages)
Members can pay by card via Paystack in the Octiv app:

In each case the invoice is created and marked paid automatically, and the sessions or package are released once payment succeeds.

5. Settlements
View them under Accounts >> Settlements — they appear once paid out to your bank, 2 working days after a successful payment. Click a settlement date to see its transactions. Statuses: Pending (awaiting payment), Processing (being processed), Success (paid to your bank account).

6. Fees
See What fees will Paystack take? for current Paystack fees.
