How do I set up a free or promotional package?

You can give someone free sessions, for example a free trial class, a promotion or a complimentary offer, with no payment and no charge. There are two ways to do it.

Option 1: A free drop-in (recommended for trial classes)

A drop-in lets someone book without becoming a member. They're added to your leads, and they don't need to download the app.

1. Go to Settings >> Packages, open the Drop-Ins tab and click Create New.
2. Give it a clear Name, for example "Free Trial Class", and a Description.
3. Set Is this package free? to Yes, and set Sessions, for example 1.
4. Set a Default Period Type and Default Period, for example Week and 2, so the free session expires if it isn't used.
5. Optional: under Purchase limits, set Number of purchases per user to 1 so each person can only claim it once.
6. Under Assign locations, tick the locations it's for, then click Submit.

To share it, find the drop-in in the Drop-In Packages list and click View under Drop-In Page. Send that page's link to the interested person. They can then sign themselves up and book.

A drop-in can't be hidden. Anyone with the link, or anyone who visits your drop-in widget, can see it. If you want to control exactly who can use the free sessions, use Option 2.

Option 2: A free package (if they should join as a member)

Use a free package if you'd rather the person signs up as a member from the start, or if you want to control who can use it.

1. Go to Settings >> Packages and click Create New.
2. Give it a clear name, for example "Free Trial – 1 Session", and choose the package type (usually Limited: Once-Off Sessions).
3. Set the number of sessions, and set Is this package free? to Yes.
4. Set a Default Period Type and Default Period so the package expires, counted from the package start date.
5. Choose who can see it:
   • To let people sign up themselves: leave Display package on Octiv sign up widget? ticked. Then share the package's direct link: in the packages list, click View under Sign Up Page and send that page's link.
   • To control who uses it: untick Display package on Octiv sign up widget? and Allow purchase of package through Octiv mobile app?. Then add the package to each person yourself from their profile.
6. Click Submit.

The person can then use the free sessions to book, at no charge.

Every Octiv profile needs its own email address. People can't share one, so ask for a personal email address for each person.
