How do discounts and special rates work on packages?
Discounts and special rates now live on each package, not the member profile — how they work, and how existing members were migrated.
Discounts and special rates are now set per package, not per member. Previously, a member's discount or special rate lived once on their profile and applied across every package on a debit order, un-migrated cash, or no-payment billing method. Now each package has its own discount, giving you more control when a member has more than one package.
Where to set it
Members >> Manage >> [Member Name] >> Packages, then click Actions next to the package and select Edit.
In the Update Package panel, choose a Discount — either a configured discount type (e.g. a fixed amount like Family Discount, or a percentage discount) or Special rate. Enter the amount in the Discount Amount (or Special Rate Amount, for a Special rate) field, tick Override Discount Amount if you're setting a specific figure rather than the calculated split, then Submit.
The Packages tab lists each package's original price with a strikethrough, the discounted price, and how much was taken off — plus a running Total for all active packages at the bottom.
How existing special rates and discounts were migrated
Percentage discounts were already at package level before this change — a member with more than one package simply has the same percentage applied to each package individually.
Fixed-amount special rates and fixed discounts work differently, since they're a single total rather than a rate per package:
- If a member had one package, their full special rate or fixed discount carried over to that package unchanged.
- If a member had multiple packages, the original total was split across them in proportion to each package's price — so the packages' discounted prices still add up to the member's original special rate or discount total.
For example, a member with a ZAR 2 000 special rate across three packages priced at ZAR 1 675, ZAR 1 400 and ZAR 1 800 (ZAR 4 875 combined) had that split proportionally: ZAR 687.18, ZAR 574.35 and ZAR 738.47 — still totalling ZAR 2 000.
Note: The split amount on each package can be adjusted individually at any time via Override Discount Amount — the migration only set the starting point.
