How do I open my CSV export in Excel or Google Sheets?

If your Octiv CSV export opens with everything in one column, split it by comma — Excel: Text to Columns; Google Sheets: Split text to columns.

When you open a CSV export from Octiv, the data can appear squashed into a single column. Here's how to split it into proper columns in each app.

Excel

  1. Select column A.
  2. Go to Data >> Text to Columns.
  3. Choose Delimited, then Next.
  4. Tick Comma as the delimiter, then Finish.

Google Sheets
Opening or importing the CSV in Google Sheets usually splits the columns for you automatically. If it doesn't (for example because you pasted the data in), select column A, then Data >> Split text to columns, and choose Comma.
