How do I increase package prices without affecting existing members?
Editing a package's price changes it for everyone on it. To raise prices for new members only, duplicate the package and hide the old one.
Important: editing a package's price changes it for everyone currently on it. If you simply edit the price of a live package, every member on that package will be charged the new amount on their next billing. To raise prices for new members only and protect your existing members, don't edit the price — duplicate the package instead.
Raise prices for new members only
- Duplicate the package at the new price: Settings >> Packages >> Package Management >> Actions >> Duplicate, then set the new price on the copy.
- Hide the old package so no one new can join it (do not deactivate it — deactivating affects current holders). On the old package:
- Untick "Display package on Octiv sign up widget?"
- Untick "Allow purchase of package through Octiv mobile app?"
- Tick "Prevent staff from assigning this package to members"
Existing members stay on the old package at their current rate; everyone new joins the new package at the new price. Members on fixed-term contracts keep their current rate until their subscription ends.
Tip: tell your two packages apart without alarming members
When you have two versions of a package at different prices, add a small symbol such as * or # to one package name so your staff can tell them apart. Avoid labels like "old" or "new" — members can see the package name, and a discreet symbol won't stand out to them the way those words would.
If you do want to re-price everyone
To change the price for all members on a package: Settings >> Packages >> Actions >> Edit >> Package Pricing & Period >> Update Price.
Note that debit-order invoices are generated around 45 days ahead, so any debit-order invoices already created will keep the old price until they cycle through — the new price applies from the next invoice generated after the change.
