# Can I bulk upload my leads?
## Upload a list of leads at once from a CSV file under Leads \>\> Import.
Yes. If you already have a list of leads, you can upload them all at once from a CSV file instead of adding them one by one.
### Upload your leads
1. Go to **Leads \>\> Import**.
2. Under **CSV File**, click to upload your file or drag it into the box. To pick a different file, click **Replace** or **Remove**.
3. Click **Submit**.
A **Response Data** window then shows the result for each row. Rows that worked say **imported**, and you'll find those leads under **Leads \>\> Manage**. Any row that didn't import shows the reason, so you can fix it in your file and upload just those rows again.
### How to set up your CSV file
The file must be saved as a **.csv** (comma-separated values) file. Include a header row with the column names. If you don't, the first lead in the file won't be uploaded.
The columns must be in this exact order:
1. **Location Name:** must match the location name exactly as it is in Octiv.
2. **Name**
3. **Surname:** required.
4. **Gender:** `M` or `F`. Optional.
5. **Email Address:** required.
6. **Mobile Number:** optional.
7. **Date of Birth:** in the format `YYYY-MM-DD`, for example 1990-12-25. Optional.
8. **Status:** one of `pending`, `contacted`, `needs_follow_up`, `drop_in`, `request_demo`, `other` or `lost`. Write statuses with more than one word using underscores, exactly as shown. For example, use `needs_follow_up`, not "Needs Follow Up".
9. **Source:** where the lead came from, for example Social Media Marketing. Optional.

### Why didn't a row import?
- **"The 2 field is required" or "The 4 field is required":** a required column is empty. Column numbers start at 0, so 2 is **Surname** and 4 is **Email Address**.
- **"Invalid option for status":** the status isn't written in one of the formats above. Check the spelling and underscores.
- **"User already exists as a member at this gym":** that email address already belongs to one of your members, so they aren't added as a lead.
